In the village, after the day's work was done and the children's bellies were full, the family would gather. An elder would clear their throat. A talking drum would settle. And a story would begin — about a tortoise, a lion, a stubborn palm tree, a child who ignored a warning. Every story carried a lesson. Every lesson preserved a people.
